Unless otherwise noted, HSWC shows adoptable pets at Petco every Saturday from noon until 3 p.m.

Upcoming Events:


  • Spring Rabies Clinic – CANCELLED (we will hold another in the fall, date not set yet)
    • $15 Rabies Vaccines for dogs and cats at the shelter between 10am and 2pm.  Please bring proof of prior rabies vaccine if you have it.  Dogs must be on a leash, and cats must be in a carrier.  Call us if you have any questions!
  • Annual Yard Sale – Due to inclement weather forecasts, it has been moved to July 17th & 18th (all donations must be in by Thursday 7/16)
    • Our annual yard sale is always a big hit! Friday 7/17 and Saturday 7/18 from 8am-2pm, most items are name your price. If you are a bargain shopper, you won’t want to miss this event!
  • Barks & Bags – August 28th  
    • Barks and Bags is one of our biggest fundraisers for the shelter and is so much fun! We are so excited for this event, and the handbags are just gorgeous! Barks and Bags is a ladies luncheon and handbag auction. Great company, wonderful food and drinks, and fashion galore.

      Still need your tickets? We have about 30 left. They are $85 each, and groups of 8-10 make for a wonderful time! Contact Ellen Aders State Farm or Jean’s Jewelers for your tickets!

  • Clear the Shelters – August 29th
    • Clear the Shelters is a nationwide pet adoption drive hosted all across the country by NBC.
  • Waggin 4 Dragons – October 3rd 
    • Teams of 20 race down the Shenandoah River in dragon boats! Sounds interesting right?! Check out our event website to learn more! Teams registration is happening now!
  • Tails and Ales – November 14th 
    • Tickets on sale for $35 beginning late summer at the shelter, at City National Bank, and at Aders State Farm office.  This is one of our biggest annual fundraiser events, and includes dinner, drinks, a silent auction, and lots of chances to win amazing prizes.  This event is held at the Moose Lodge in Front Royal, doors open at 5:30, dinner is at 6:00.
  • Giving Tuesday – December 1st 
    • This is the biggest national day of giving.  Will you support the Humane Society today?
