At the Humane Society of Warren County, we make every effort to complete the adoption process and place adoptable pets in their new homes as soon as possible.
Please fill out an adoption application. Once our Adoption Coordinator receives your application she will review the form and call any necessary references (veterinarian, landlord). Once approved, you will come in to fill out an adoption contract, schedule a spay/neuter appointment (if your new pet is unaltered) and take your newest furry family member home.
Our cat adoption fee is 15.00
Our dog adoption fee is 30.00
Our puppy adoption fee is $130.00 for puppies 5 months and younger. The puppy adoption fee includes the cost of the spay or neuter through the Anicira Veterinary Center (formerly known as the Shenandoah Valley Spay Neuter Clinic) in Harrisonburg, VA.
The adoption fees for cats and dogs, over 5 months of age, do not include the cost of the spay or neuter. We can help you register your pet to be altered at the low cost Anicira Veterinary Center (formerly the Shenandoah Valley Spay Neuter Clinic) in Harrisonburg, VA. There is also an option of a low cost spay/neuter program in Stephens City, VA, petneuter.org. Of course, you can choose to have your new pet altered at your regular veterinarian. Local veterinarians often offer special rates for pets adopted from our shelter. Our Adoption Coordinator will provide you with a list of valuable resources.
You may opt to pay for additional services such as micro-chip & special testing.
We adopt animals to any area in the United States as long as you are willing to travel to pick up your pet. If you do not live in Warren County or one of its surrounding subsidies, it is state law that the pet must be spayed or neutered before it leaves the shelter.
