Kayla Shelter Manager


Kayla Wines, Interim Executive Director

Kayla joined the Humane Society of Warren County as an animal caregiver in 2013 and has held many roles within the shelter. She has over 15 years of management experience and a vast knowledge of shelter operations and customer service. Kayla ensures smooth day to day operations of the shelter as well as the HSWC Spay Clinic and Pick of the Litter Thrift Store. Kayla also introduced the new “Spay it Forward” program at the spay clinic to cover the cost of surgery for families who otherwise could not afford it. She is passionate about animal welfare and her strengths and capabilities have proved indispensable for our organization.







Kristen Palmer, Shelter Manager

Kristen was hired in March of 2020 and has quickly moved up the ranks. She is our new Shelter Manager and is known for her organization and ability to remain calm under pressure. Kristen assists the ED with scheduling, events, annual budget preparation, ordering and inventory, provides coverage on our adoption and intake desks. Kristen also works closely with our shelter and clinic veterinarian to ensure the very best care is being given to our residents. 







Danielle Scholtz, Canine Kennel Manager

Danielle has been part of the HSWC family since September of 2020 and has been such an amazing part of what our dog team is today! She was most recently our Senior Animal Care team member on our canine team and her knowledge and skill set should make this transition an easy one. Danielle is respected by the team and always has the best interest of the dogs at heart.








Gillian Crowe, Feline Kennel Manager

Gillian has been with the Humane Society of Warren County since 2018. She is fantastic with our cats and recognizing early signs of stress and illness. Not only does Gillian lead our feline department, she works the adoption desk, intake desk and assists with our TNR program. Gillian also works closely with our shelter veterinarian.








Susan Jeffery, Office Manager/Bookkeeper

Susan comes to us with 20 years experience in bookkeeping and office management. She most recently worked as the Business Manager for another non-profit organization in Front Royal VA, The Warren Heritage Society. Susan is very knowledgeable in her duties as Office Manager and we are excited to have her on board.









Tiffany Rothgeb, Adoption & Events Coordinator

We are happy to welcome back Tiffany to the HSWC family! She has held several positions with us in the past and is excited to be coming back. She has a background in veterinary customer service, veterinary assisting, kennel cleaning and event planning in previous fields. Tiffany will be our adoption coordinator and assist our director with event coordination.
